Good Recruitment Agencies
Not all recruitment agencies are bad, on the contrary, most agencies are becomming acutely aware of the sharp practices of the cowboys. This has led to more agencies forming regulatory bodies and signing up to their code of practice. This shows commitment from the good agencies to deal with the riff-raff. One such venture is the Recruitment and Employment Federation which has a code of practice for all its members.
All Agencies Are The Same
I have read hundreds of posts in quite a few forums about cowboy agencies and one thing I can be sure of is that they are not all from jobseekers. A good percentage are from recruiters brave enough to fight their corner. We are not alone in trying to stamp out these cowboys and I have read many a post from a recruiter voicing their disgust at the practices being employed by their so called competitors. Thankfully for us its not all one sided and we have people in the recruitment industry trying to stamp it out.
Recruitment is a tough business
Being a recruitment consultant is not an easy job. When they phone you up they are not sure if they are going to get an amicable response or some person with a grudge against agencies shouting at them. Take it easy on them and always be polite it does not cost you anything so. Put yourself in their place and act accordingly.
