The role of the Middleware developer is to maintain and enhance our ISP Services like mail, news, ldap, DNS, streaming etc. used by all customers. This includes the following activities: Documentation: Design technical architecture related to middleware, provisioning and ISP. Write the technical specifications, exploitation guides related to middleware, provisioning and ISP. Development: Develop and unit test the new functionalities around Web, Mail, News, Caching, DNS, NFS, DHCP, Samba, FTP, LDAP, DB, Security products and services, etc.. Follow the rules of the Development team in term of code change management. Follow the rules of the Business Systems team (Operations) in term of security, reporting, failure management. Prepare and test the package to install on the production platform. Operational activities: Research, install, and test software updates and patches to supported applications and various operating systems. Support investigation / fixing production malfunctions. Create and maintain user, technical and operational documentation that describes program code, architecture, changes and corrections. Support investigation / fixing production malfunctions in cooperation with the BSS support team. Pro-actively suggest and possibly implement improvements on the development process. Due to the Fact that most of the systems are used 24h/24h, you may have to work outside of office hours time to time for roll-out to minimise customers/users disturbance. Education: HBO or University technical degree or significant work experience. Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years in development / architecture and project management in an Internet related business. Technical and/or Management Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of / experience with ISP environments and typical ISP applications (e.g. DNS, DHCP, NIS, NFS, sendmail, POP, IMAP, VPN, apache, CVS. Good knowledge of / experience with network security and host security (E.g. VPN, firewall), ISP environments and typical ISP applications (e.g. DNS, DHCP, NIS, NFS, sendmail, POP, IMAP, VPN, apache, CVS. Good knowledge of / experience with UNIX OS and Oracle / MySQL. Excellent knowledge of Perl / JAVA, experience with Web Services; Object-oriented Design using a formal notation such as UML; Visio (deployment view); Configuration Management Tools such as PVCS, CVS.
