We are looking for a temporary live-out nanny babysitter to look after our two children Kai aged 7 and Cara aged 2. The kids are respctful and interesting but they expect a lot of adult interaction. Both like music and art a lot. Kai likes all kinds of creative stuff like drawing building machines and contraptions out of everything in the house. His recent interests include sewing a dress for his sister developing a detailed drawing of his plans for an underground tunnel to his friends house from home making a video of the big bang theory using balloons and other funny things creating art from pictures he takes with his microscope attached to the computer making a gingerbread house and homemade bread. We joke that he has attention Excess disorder because he can engage in pretend or realistic play with focus for hours provided he has interested company. He is very open to ideas that other might have. Father Christmas will surprise him with a small junior carpentry set. So I imagine he would like to build a bed for his sisters doll or a drawbridge for the castles he likes to build. None of these things require knowledge of woodworking but care for his safety while he makes things that arent so perfect. Cara loves to draw build with blocks play with wooden animals and play with her building marble run and to do anything Kai does. When Kai is baking she takes a small bowl and works beside him adding small random amounts of ingredients stirring and thinking she is making dough like him (but really it gets thrown out in the end of course When he is making a scrapbook of photographs from his trip to the aquarium she cannot help but make her own stapled together version gluing scraps of newspaper she cut up to some paper stapled together. She is very fit and loves walking leisurely outside noticing and discussing every detail around her cats dogs babies in their buggies bikes birds noting their size and color climbing on walls and walking along them playing in and out of the chains that surround stores and kicking the ball around outside the back of our house. Both children are intelligent and kind would welcome the opportunity to play with an engaging intelligent and caring Nanny. They are lots of fun for the right person. A trip to the park would hold expectation of a nanny joining in on the football play helping dig in the earth to find creatures that can be taken home in an old shoebox with a comfy bed of dirt to be cared for out behind the house not kept for too long because mom is not thrilled about little creatures or anything fun the babysitter might like to do with them. Someone who would prefer a trip to the playground where the kids play by themselves as she or he reads a book on the nearby bench or talks on the cellphone would be unhappy. Or someone who likes to have the children in front of a video while they write E-Mail would be disappointed. However Kai had three occasional Nannies for many years who have since moved on. They looked forward to their time with him and keep in touch with occasional visits and remember his birthday. One made a nice scrapbook for him of all the fun times they had together at the science museum building contraptions painting riding on the duck tours before she moved for medical school. None of this was part of the job description but came resulted from the joy of spending time with him. I am not sure if an advert for a nanny is the right forum for a babysitter for these two because the babysitters who really enjoyed themselves had interests outside of childcare as well as enjoying children. They were students who went on to law school or graduated from royal college of music to work long hours playing violin for the royal opera house . but we are hoping to attract the interest of someone who has their own interests but would like to make a little extra money by passing the time enjoyablely with two nice kids. Kai goes to school during the day during term-time so the time would be afternoons or just Cara. Hours are flexible Maybe one afternoon or morning a week for 4 hours at a time) The mother is an American and at home with the children (but needs time away to keep up her work skills on the computer and in business as well as having fun with her own adult interests) father is German and a professor of economics.
